Awards & Honors

There can be good marketing reasons to pursue a trophy, like when they help in sales and leasing of properties. Cameron believes that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing well. Here is a selection of awards, honors and recognition’s Cameron has personally received or that were awarded to his businesses.

Real Estate Development Awards

Projects where Cameron was an important part of the management team have earned these awards:

In 1992 the Cedarspring Country Estates townhome project earned the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board for best project in its class – Multifamily over $200,000.  The project was also commonly included in City of Abbotsford community tours for important visitors.

Also in 1992, Cedarspring Country Estates received an unsolicited  commendation letter from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans for our efforts to improve water quality in streams and protect fish. Specifically as developers we controlled an outfall that was eroding the site and washing silt downstream. Instead we created a large settlement pond/water feature that included gravel berms to capture silt and a series of control facilities to regulate peak water flow. While these kinds of systems are more common now, at the time our solutions were pretty revolutionary. We kept this letter framed in our sales center.

Our Cedarsprings project was an early winner of Georgie Awards sponsored by the Canadian Home Builders Association-BC Chapter.

As an little known developer in Abbotsford, we captured these awards for 1992 competing against large established builders like Polygon and Bosa.

  • Gold Award – Best Multifamily Project outside Metro Vancouver
  • Gold Award – Environmental Awareness –  (the runner up was masterplanned community Westwood Plateau – an incredible project)
  • Silver Award – Best Landscape Design

Cameron’s Legacy Pacific development projects were awarded a series of Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards including:
  • 2006 Established Business of the Year-Corporate
  • 2006 Development Excellence – Commercial/Industrial
  • 2007 Development Excellence – Commercial/Industrial
  • 2008 Development Excellence – Residential/Commercial

Academic Awards

In University Cameron earned a 4.0 GPA in his Freshman year which resulted in an induction into Phi Eta Sigma. Founded in 1923 at the University of Illinois, Phi Eta Sigma is the nation’s oldest and largest honor society for first-year college and university students in all disciplines.

Because Cameron challenged so many courses and took academic overload, by the end of my 1st year in University he was classified as a Junior (3rd year). It took a total of 2.5 years equivalent full time study to earn his 4 year degree in Business Administration.

Cameron’s name was placed on the Dean’s list every semester at Washington Adventist University and the University of Central Missouri for GPA above 3.50 (4 point scale).  Most semesters were a perfect 4.0

Cameron also earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with Honors (magna cum laude) for overall GPA of 3.79 which resulted in an award of gold honor cords from Washington Adventist University (then Columbia Union College), a faith based liberal arts school in the Washington DC metro area.

Cameron is no Michael Kearney, but he designed his own accelerated program to finish high school at age 16 – likely still the youngest ever graduate from his high school. Graduated Grade 12 with honors while his contemporaries were finishing the 10th grade.
